The Boston House Celebrates with Community Open House

Brookline, MA - June 26, 2024 — The Boston House: Hope and Healing for Children with Cancer, a no-cost home away from home for children with cancer and their families, recently celebrated the completion of a vital construction project and grand re-opening. To celebrate this achievement and thank supporters, The Boston House invited members of the community to an Open House on June 25, 2024. Attendees were given the opportunity to tour the newly renovated facilities, learn about the organization's impact, and enjoy refreshments provided by Elaine Construction, a key partner in the project.

Since 1979, The Boston House has served families whose children are undergoing treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children's Hospital. Situated in Brookline, MA, The Boston House has undergone significant upgrades to ensure families continue to find solace and support during challenging times. In July, The Boston House will fully re-open to families and volunteers with the ability to serve up to 22 families at a time. Volunteers will be welcomed back to The House to prepare and serve meals, welcome guests, and engage in meaningful ways for both volunteers and families alike.

"Our mission is to provide a haven where families can focus on the health of their child without worrying about where to stay or how to afford it," said Dawn Emerman, Co-Executive Director of The Boston House. "The capital improvements completed by Elaine Construction ensure that our families receive the utmost comfort and convenience during their stay."

The completion of this project marks a milestone in The Boston House's ongoing dedication to serving pediatric oncology patients from across the country and beyond. In 2023 alone, over 100 families representing 18 states and territories, including international guests from Honduras and Peru, found refuge at The Boston House.

"We are thrilled to showcase the improvements made possible through the generosity of the community and our donors," added Emerman. "Their support has been instrumental in ensuring that families facing pediatric cancer receive the comfort and care they deserve."
